Microsoft Ignite 2025 – Summary of the first day
We are at Microsoft Ignite 2024 in Chicago this year. This is the world’s largest specialist conference organized by software giant Microsoft. We are therefore currently reporting on the news every day.
Today, the conference started at 8.00 a.m. local time with Satya Nadella’s keynote. In addition to many topics relating to OpenAI and Microsoft’s Copilot implementation, there were many other important announcements:
- Copilot is being implemented more and more in Microsoft’s software solutions through corresponding agents. For example, SharePoint sites and other Office 365 components will receive the Copilot extension.
- Copilot will be integrated into PowerShell, Azure Monitor and many other components
- Microsoft Azure Stack HCI becomes AzureLocal, completing Microsoft’s hybrid cloud solution and centralizing all functions in the new AzureLocal product. There will also be offline support and much more. These new functions are expected in the first half of 2025 when Windows Server 2025 is introduced in AzureLocal.
- Windows Server 2025 was already launched before the event, here are many details in the next few days.
- Windows365 will become the central SaaS solution for cloud client computing. It is therefore moving further and further away from Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and towards a complete SaaS solution for customers.
- With Windows365Link, Microsoft will release a hardware component (planned for April 2025) that replaces the complete client and directly completes secure communication in the Azure Cloud to the Windows365 SaaS solution.
- A native Postgres and MS SQL Server implementation in Azure Fabric has been announced and will be available soon. These are the most important announcements from today’s keynote, some 30 years after the launch of Windows 3.1 in the same premises of the Chicago Event Center. The next few days will remain interesting and we hope that you will follow us here to keep up with the “hot of the press” news.
